The main drawback is that a doctor obviously can't clean your teeth or fill a cavity through a screen. However, I found it incredibly useful for initial triage. Instead of wasting time and money traveling to a clinic just for a quick visual look, utilizing teledentistry via allowed me to get an expert opinion on my swollen gums right away. It won't replace a drill, but it saves so much guesswork.
