Thinking about trying paid social engagement for the first time

I’ve been exploring options for boosting my social presence and keep coming across services that promise fast likes, followers, or views. I’ve never tried anything like this before, so I’m unsure what’s realistic. Some providers claim the growth comes from “real users,” but I’m skeptical about what that actually means. I’m trying to understand whether these boosts stay stable over time or disappear after a few days. Anyone with actual experience — what happened after you bought engagement, and did it help your account or just inflate numbers?

Got dragged into this whole growth-hustle rabbit hole a while back, and somewhere between comparing “premium” follower bundles and refreshing stats, I even caught myself doomscrolling through random side stuff like chicken-road.com.in while waiting to see if the boosts would stick. The providers kept swearing everything came from “real users,” but the numbers behaved more like a short-term sugar rush — first a sharp spike that made my profile look busy, then a slow fade as a chunk of those accounts vanished or just sat there like dead weight. What really threw me off was how the algorithm reacted: reach dipped, engagement ratio tanked, and my legit audience suddenly felt harder to reach, almost like the system flagged the inconsistency. It didn’t completely wreck my profile, but it definitely didn’t help beyond cosmetic value. The only thing that actually moved the needle long-term was tightening my niche, posting consistently, and doing small collabs with creators in the same lane.
