Baby Hand Fed Parakeet

Hello! My name is Charlie Plaza, Owner of CPbirds.com. Thank you for your purchase of your new pet bird! You are now beginning your journey to experience one of the most memorable experiences of your life, owning a feathered pet! Now is not the time to sit back and relax. Now is where the real work begins but don't worry, you will have decades of years' worth of enjoyment with your feathered friend. Let's get to work!

At this point you found your bird and purchased it. You will pick it up or we are shipping it to you soon. Below, you will read very important next steps for your new bird, what you can expect and steps for you to take to prepare for it's arrival. Read this post in it's entirety and be sure to ask me any questions that may arise using the Contact Us page.

New Bird Next Steps For Local Pick Up:

Be sure to send an email using the Contact Us page Here to schedule a pick up. Let us know when you'd like to pick up the bird so we can try to schedule it as best as possible. Remember, during the week, we are typically available for pick up after 6:30 pm or weekends anytime. We may be able to accommodate other times, just shoot us a message and we can coordinate.

New Bird Next Steps For Birds Being Shipped to You:

For birds being shipped to you, we will contact you within 24-48 hours of your order being placed to provide an approximate shipping date. Shipping involves extensive planning, and some factors are beyond our control.

We can only ship baby birds that are fully weaned, meaning they must be eating and drinking on their own before we can ship them. We cannot and will not ship babies until they are fully self-sustainable. Sometimes a bird is expected to start eating within two weeks but may not be ready for three weeks.

Please be patient with this process, as these are live animals that require careful care and cannot be rushed into something they are not ready for.

Essentials Needed BEFORE the Bird Arrives:

I have posted a few links below. To be completely transparent, we do get 3% commission if you use these links below. We then use all the commissions we earn and donate to a local parrot rescue or pay for a bird's medical treatment for someone who cannot afford it. We appreciate your contribution by purchasing using the amazon links below.

Food for new pet bird from CPbirds.com
Roudybush Maintenance Mini sized Pellets

Food: The baby is being weaned on to Roudybush Maintenance Mini Sized Pellets. It is absolutely necessary and required that you purchase this food and the baby be maintained on this food for at least 2 weeks after you take your baby home. Remember, moving the baby from our home to yours is extremely stressful. We are removing the baby from a familiar environment, its siblings and the person that has been hand feeding it for many weeks. We do not want to add extra stress by also changing it's diet! Keep the baby on the familiar diet for now to reduce stress and after 2 -4 weeks, slowly change it's diet to whatever you prefer. However, this pelleted diet would be a great food to keep the baby for the rest of it's life.

44oz bag can be purchased here: https://amzn.to/43vKD9B

10 lbs bag (BEST VALUE):

Spray Millet: This Spray Millet is what we use to start the weaning process and baby birds absolutely LOVE them. I HIGHLY recommend you get some because this is what the bird is familiar with and it helps them calm down. It keeps them busy and entertained. This will reduce stress levels for the baby that just traveled your way.

Premium Spray Millet that we recommend can be purchased here: https://amzn.to/4dS6ETE

Vitamins for a new pet bird

Vitamins: As you know vitamins are extremely important for the birds well being and to ensure they have a very good immune system. The Lafeber's vitamins are what we use here at CPbirds.com. We add a small amount to the water, it dissolves very quickly and birds love the taste! I highly recommend getting these vitamins and providing it to your baby at least 3 times a week.

You can purchase Lafebers Vitamins here: https://amzn.to/4kNVyBT

Cuttle Bone or Calcium Supplement: Here at CPbirds.com, we believe in mimicking the birds' natural behaviors by providing enrichment in any way we possibly can. This is why we provide cuttle bone to consume and as they are consuming it, it helps their urge to want to bite and grind their beak. On top of that, it is a natural source of calcium that birds can easily digest, and it helps strengthen their bones and replenish the immense amount of calcium their bodies extract to produce eggs. Have this cuttle bone always available for the birds.

You can purchase premium cuttle bone here: https://amzn.to/3ZghAEv

There are other items that you should get before the bird arrives such as bird toys, treats, bedding for the bottom of the cage, different sized perches etc. A basic amazon search will go along way in helping you decide what works for you.

Bio Secured Shipping Box

Once the baby is weaned and ready to go, we prepare the bio-secured shipping box. This box has a filter covering the air holes to prevent bacteria from entering and to keep the baby safe from outside pollutants. It also prevents the bird from seeing things that might scare them, such as lights, planes, cars, and other potential stressors.

Inside the box, we use a non-spill water cup with a sponge to prevent water from splashing. We also add enough food to last the baby for more than three days, including spray millet for comfort during the journey to you.

Shipping Process:

We schedule the shipping with the carrier to ensure smooth transit. Once everything is ready, we place the bird inside the bio-secured shipping box and drive it to the Orlando International Airport for their journey to you.

This journey is designed to be as comfortable as possible for the baby, with all their needs covered. If your baby is shipped via the USPS, you will receive a tracking number via email once the baby ships. If shipped via Delta Cargo or another carrier, you will receive the flight number or airway bill number via email.

Delivery:

The United States Postal Service tracking info is for your information only. Sometimes, they do not scan the label or update the tracking. Although the delivery date might be listed as 2-3 days out, birds typically arrive overnight or the second day. Rarely does it take three days unless there is a delay. However, we guarantee that the baby will arrive alive and well, so there is no need to worry. We do NOT stress over the baby during the journey because we have perfected our shipping method over the years with the best possible preparation so, please be patient and rest assured that we will guarantee the baby's safety and live arrival.

Once your baby arrives at the closest post office (USPS) to your address or airport (Delta Cargo), you will receive a call with instructions on where to pick up the baby bird. Please pick it up as soon as possible, but no later than two hours from the time you receive the call. Also bring your government issued picture ID matching the name on the order. They will not release the bird unless the person's first and last name matches the order.

Enjoy Your Life Long Friend!

Now, let the fun begin! Be sure you spend a lot of quality time with your new feathered friend. The more you hold the baby, the better socialized and friendly it will be. Be sure to watch You Tube videos on how to properly train a parrot to step up, talk, and do tricks! I promise, the more dedication you give your new bird, the more you will get out of this newfound relationship with a feathered friend! As always, feel free to message us using the CONTACT US form should you have any questions, comments or concerns.
